TPU filament: a short buying guide

TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) is a flexible 3D printer filament used for phone cases, grips, tyres and vibration-damping parts. Start with how much your part needs to bend, then check whether your printer can feed that particular filament before comparing prices.

Choose the Shore hardness, not just the brand. On the Shore A scale, a lower number means softer material: 85A is softer than 95A. Softer flexible filaments are generally harder to feed reliably. A 95A grade is a useful starting point to investigate, but it is not a guarantee of compatibility. Wall thickness and infill also affect how flexible the finished print feels.

Compare like-for-like grades by price per kilogram, then check the total price, filament diameter, pack weight and delivery cost on the retailer’s listing. A 500g spool can cost less upfront without being cheaper per kg. Before ordering several reels, try one on your printer and check our recorded price history on its product page; price history requires sign-in.

As a starting point, print TPU at 210–240°C with the bed at 30–50°C; it doesn't need an enclosure.

TPU soaks up moisture quickly, so dry it before printing and keep it sealed with desiccant: 70°C for about 8 hours, and no hotter than 75°C.

    TPU filament: common questions

Answers from our live prices and the material table.

What is the cheapest TPU filament in the UK right now?

The cheapest TPU filament we are tracking on Amazon UK, Eryone UK and SUNLU UK is £8.49, which is roughly £11.50 per kilogram. This page is sorted by price so the current cheapest listing appears first.

What temperature should I print TPU at?

As a starting point, print TPU at 210–240°C with the bed at 30–50°C; it doesn't need an enclosure. Always check the range printed on the spool, as it varies between brands and colours.

What is TPU filament best used for?

TPU is a good choice for phone cases, gaskets, tyres, grips, vibration dampers and wearable parts. TPU is a flexible filament measured by Shore hardness — 95A is the common, printable middle ground.

How should I dry and store TPU filament?

TPU soaks up moisture quickly, so dry it before printing and keep it sealed with desiccant: 70°C for about 8 hours, and no hotter than 75°C. Between prints, keep reels sealed with silica gel or another desiccant.

Should I compare TPU by spool price or price per kilogram?

Price per kilogram. Spool weights vary between 500g, 800g and 1kg, and multipacks are listed at a bundle price, so the cheapest spool is often not the cheapest filament. Every TPU listing on this page shows both figures.

    How SpoolDeal checks prices

The same rules on every page, so a deal badge means the same thing everywhere.

    1. Re-checked through the day

Every tracked listing on Amazon UK, Eryone UK and SUNLU UK is re-checked through the day, and the most-watched ones every two hours.

    2. Measured against our own history

A deal only counts when the price is below what that reel has actually sold for over the last 90 days, not a seller's “was” price.

    3. An email when it drops

Set a target price on any reel with a free account and we email you when it gets there.

Get new TPU filament deals by email

When something here drops below its usual price, by our own price history, we'll email you. One email a day at most, and every one has a one-click unsubscribe.
