    Right now the cheapest listing per kilogram is PETG, from £6.65/kg on Amazon UK and Eryone UK. Everyday PLA and PETG multipacks are usually the cheapest filament per kilogram; speciality finishes and engineering materials cost more. Compare price per kilogram rather than price per spool, because reels vary from 250g to 3kg.

    Which filament is easiest to print?

    PLA rates easiest in our material table. As a starting point, print PLA at 190–230°C with the bed at 35–60°C; it doesn't need an enclosure. It is the usual first filament for a new printer.

    What is the difference between PLA and PETG?

    PLA prints at 190–230°C and needs no enclosure; PETG prints hotter, at 230–260°C, and its parts hold their shape to about 69°C against 57°C for PLA. Our PLA vs PETG page compares them property by property with live prices.
