    How the guides work

Each guide compares the printer's verified specs (hotend and bed temperature, enclosure, stock nozzle and multi-material unit) with what each filament needs, from manufacturers' data sheets.

Abrasive filaments (carbon fibre, glass fibre, glow-in-the-dark) need a hardened nozzle; ABS, ASA and nylon need an enclosure; flexible filaments can't go through an AMS. Every guide then lists the cheapest in-stock reels that print well on that printer.

    Common questions

Which filament is best for a beginner's printer?

PLA. It prints at the lowest temperatures, needs no enclosure and barely warps, so it works on every printer here. Each guide lists the cheapest PLA in stock that suits that printer.

Can every printer print carbon fibre filament?

Only with a hardened nozzle. Carbon fibre, glass fibre and glow-in-the-dark filaments are abrasive and wear out brass nozzles quickly. The guides say which printers ship with a hardened nozzle.

My printer isn't listed. What should I check?

Look up its maximum hotend and bed temperatures, whether it has an enclosure, and what nozzle it ships with, then compare them with the material's needs on the drying chart and material comparison pages. We add printers once their specs are verified.
