Today's price drops →How many filaments does SpoolDeal track?
3,234 filament listings across 58 brands and 35 materials, re-checked through the day.
Browse by brand →What is the best cheap filament for a beginner's printer?
PLA: it prints at the lowest temperatures, needs no enclosure and is among the cheapest filaments per kilogram, so early failed prints cost very little. Our Creality Ender 3 S1 guide shows what that printer prints out of the box and the cheapest reels that suit it.
Creality Ender 3 S1 guide →Getting started
What SpoolDeal is and how it works.
What is SpoolDeal?
SpoolDeal is a free price tracker for 3D printing in the UK: filament, 3D printers and accessories. It follows thousands of listings on Amazon UK and Eryone UK, compares every price with that listing's own price history, and shows filament's price per kilogram, so you can tell a genuine deal from a marketing one.
About SpoolDeal →Is there a tour of the site?
Yes. Choose Take the tour from the ? button at the top of any page (or from the menu on a phone) for a one-minute look at the deals, filters, Pick your printer, the menus and your account. The same button opens this FAQ.
Do I need an account to use the site?
No. You can browse every deal, guide and tool, pick your printer and share filters without one, and you can set a price or back-in-stock alert with just your email address. A free account adds price history charts, Deal Scores, favourites, lists, saved filters, Inventory and your alerts in one place, synced across your devices.
Is SpoolDeal free?
Yes, completely. We earn a small commission from qualifying purchases through our links (as an Amazon Associate and with other retailers), which never changes the price you pay.
How often are prices updated?
Every tracked listing is re-checked at least once a day, and the ones people watch (favourites, price alerts, featured and popular deals) every two hours, using each retailer's own product data. Prices can still change between checks, so the price at checkout is the one that counts; deal rows and product pages show when their prices were last checked.
Where can I see what's new?
The What's new page lists every release, newest first, and it's linked from the footer of every page.
What's new →Deals and badges
What the numbers and badges on each card mean.
How does SpoolDeal decide what counts as a deal?
We compare each listing's price with its usual price: the typical price over the last 90 days of our own checks. A seller's "was" price is never used, because sellers set it themselves and it can sit permanently above the real selling price.
Today's price drops →What does "below usual" mean?
It compares today's price with the listing's usual price over the last 90 days. A listing counts as below its usual price at 5% under it, and its card shows a "% below usual" badge from 10% under. The usual price only counts once we have three weeks of history, so a newly tracked listing shows no usual price or saving yet.
How do you rank deals?
From our own price checks, the same for everyone: mainly how far each price is below its usual price, with points for 90-day lows, lightning deals, price per kg against the same material and favourites. Nobody pays for a place. The ranking page lists every factor and how much it counts, for each list and sort.
How we rank deals →What does the "Lowest price" badge mean?
The price is the lowest we have recorded for that listing since we started tracking it, shown once we've tracked it for more than 30 days. It may not be the lowest price it has ever had at the retailer. "Lowest in 90 days" and "Lowest in 30 days" mean the same over those periods, once we have that much history.
What does "Biggest drop in 60 days" mean?
The price fell by at least 5% in the last week, and it's the biggest single drop that listing has had in the last 60 days of our checks.
What do "Back in stock" and "watching" mean?
"Back in stock" means the listing came back into stock in the last 7 days. "N watching" counts the people with that product in their favourites or a price alert on it.
What does the "Prime" badge mean?
Amazon sometimes offers a lower price to Prime members. The Prime badge means the price shown is for Prime members only; the product page shows what everyone else pays, and the filters can exclude Prime prices.
What are lightning deals?
Amazon's limited-time deals. Their cards show when the deal ends and how much of it has been claimed, and the lightning deals page lists the live ones, ending soonest first.
Lightning deals →What does "Great time to buy" on a product page mean?
It's our verdict on today's price from that listing's own history: Great time to buy, Good price, Typical price or Wait if you can. A listing we've tracked for less than three weeks says there isn't enough price history yet. Members also see the full price history chart and a Deal Score from 0 to 100.
What does "Out of stock" mean?
The retailer is showing the listing as unavailable. On the product page, choose Email me when it's back and we'll tell you when it returns; the page also suggests similar reels that are in stock now.
Why do you show price per kilogram?
Because spools come in everything from 250g to 3kg, and multipacks are priced as a bundle. The cheapest spool is often not the cheapest filament; price per kilogram is the only fair comparison.
What do "Cardboard spool" and "Refill, no spool" mean?
We read the spool type from each listing. A refill comes without a spool, so you need a reusable spool that fits it before you can print. A cardboard spool is lighter and recyclable, but it can shed dust or slip in a multi-colour unit like the AMS, so we flag it unless the printer you picked has no multi-colour unit. A reusable spool can be kept and loaded with refills. Deal cards show the spool type, and the product page lists it in the specs and under Before you buy.
Alerts and emails
Getting told when a price drops, and managing your emails.
How do price alerts work?
On any filament, printer or accessory page, choose Alert me if it drops and set your price; we suggest one from the listing's history. We check alerts every hour and email you once when the price reaches yours, then the alert waits until you re-arm it. Your alerts are all on the Price alerts page.
Price alerts →Can one alert cover every colour?
Yes. Tick "Any colour of this range" when you set the alert (or choose Any colour will do? under the colour swatches), and we email you when any colour of that range (same listing family, retailer, material and pack size) is in stock at or below your price.
How do stock alerts work?
Choose Email me when it's back on an out-of-stock product page. For your favourites, Account → Emails lets you choose back in stock, running low and sold out emails.
Email settings →What's the difference between favourites and price alerts?
Favourites (the heart) are reels you want to keep an eye on: they get price-drop emails as often as you choose in Account → Emails (daily, every 3 days or weekly, for drops of any size, 5%, 10% or 20%). A price alert is one email at the price you set. Setting a price alert doesn't favourite a product.
Favourites →How do I stop alert emails?
Every email has an unsubscribe link, and Account → Emails lets you switch each kind of email on or off.
Your account
Favourites, lists, your profile and invites.
What's in my account?
The account menu has Account, Favourites, Price alerts, Lists, Inventory, Notifications and Invites. Account itself has your public profile, your printers, your emails, saved searches and security settings.
Account →What are lists?
Lists group products for a project, a printer or a wish list; add a product with Add to list on its page or deal card. Each list shows what's worth buying today against usual prices, what to keep watching and tips such as a cheaper colour in the range. Make a list public to share it.
My lists →How do I get a public profile?
Switch on Public Profile in Account → Public profile and choose what to show: your printers, favourite filaments, achievements and reviews. It's at spool.deal/u/ and your username.
Public profile settings →How do invites work?
Invites has your invite link. When a friend signs up with it and confirms their email, it counts towards your referral achievements, and gives you an entry into the prize draw whenever a giveaway is running. Links you share from SpoolDeal while signed in carry your invite code too.
Invites →How can I manage or delete my account?
Account has your email preferences, saved searches, printers and profile. You can change your email or password, or delete your account, in Account → Security at any time.
Finding the right filament
Filters, your printer, colours, guides and bundles.
How do I filter deals by brand, material or colour?
Open FILTERS on the left edge (Filter & sort on a phone) to narrow any deal list by material, brand, colour, price, stock, bundles and what prints on your printer. Signed in, you can save a filter; anyone can share one as a short link. Every material and brand also has its own page with the cheapest spools first.
Browse by material →What does "Pick your printer" do?
Choose your printer above a deal list and we flag the deals it can't print as it comes. Switch on "Only deals that fit" to hide them, and follow the link to accessories, spares and upgrades that fit it. It's remembered on your device, and saved to your account when you're signed in.
Which filament will work in my printer?
Our printer guides compare each printer's verified specs (hotend and bed temperature, enclosure, stock nozzle and multi-material unit) with what each filament needs, and list the cheapest reels that print well on it.
Best filament for your printer →How do I find a filament to match a colour?
Upload a photo or pick a colour in the colour matcher and it finds the closest filaments in stock, scored with Delta-E colour science. If you like a Bambu Lab, Prusament or Polymaker colour, the lookalikes page lists cheaper reels that match it.
Colour matcher →How do I pick the best-value colour of a filament?
A filament's page shows every colour of its range as swatches, sortable A-Z or by price. A star marks the cheapest colour in stock today, a ring the colours at their lowest price in 90 days and a dot those below their usual price; hover over a swatch to preview its photo and price. If your colour is out of stock, the page lists the colours in stock now, and it shows reviews of the range's other colours too.
How do I choose between two materials or brands?
The compare pages put materials and brands side by side, such as PLA vs PETG or eSUN vs SUNLU, with today's prices. The filament buyer's guide explains what each material is good for.
Compare →What are collections and guides?
Collections are filaments picked for a theme or project, and our guides are hand-picked top picks with notes on why each made the cut. Both are published by the SpoolDeal team.
Guides and top picks →Are filament bundles worth buying?
Often, for colours you use a lot. SpoolDeal works out the price per kilogram for every multipack, and the bundle deals page lists brands' own bundle sales at the per-spool price, with the minimum order and how it compares with the cheapest single spool.
Bundle deals →How do shared filters work?
When you share a filter combination you get a short link that opens the exact same view for anyone, which is handy for group buys or recommending filament to a friend.
Do you support marketplaces outside the UK?
Deal pages cover Amazon UK and Eryone UK, with prices in pounds. When we support other countries, a region picker appears in the header with prices in the right currency.
3D printers and accessories
Printer deals, choosing a printer and what fits it.
Do you track 3D printer prices?
Yes. The printers page ranks printer deals by our own price history, one card per model, with what each prints, its enclosure, build size and multi-colour options. Tick up to three to compare them side by side.
3D printers →Which 3D printer should I buy?
Answer four questions in Find your printer on the printers page (what you'll print, how many colours, your budget and how big your prints are) for the printers that fit. The printer buyer's guide explains each choice, and our picks name the best in each category right now.
Printer buyer's guide →Can I get an alert when a printer gets cheaper?
Yes. Each printer's guide opens with Buy the printer: its listings against their usual price, and Not in a hurry? sets a price alert on every listing of the printer or its combo at once.
Do you track accessories?
Yes: filament dryers, dry boxes, nozzles, hotends, build plates, AMS accessories and tools, ranked by our own price history. You can list everything that fits your printer, including spares and upgrades made for it, and filament pages point out what else it needs, such as a hardened nozzle for abrasive filament or a dryer hot enough for it.
Accessories →Community
Reviews, competitions, submitting deals and reporting problems.
Can I review a filament or share print photos?
Yes, please do. Sign in and use Write a Review on the product page, with photos of your prints; you can review each product once. Reviews come from members, and we don't check whether they bought the product. The home page shows the latest reviews and print photos and the most active members.
How do review competitions work?
While a competition is running, a trophy with a countdown appears at the top of the page. Competitions are open to UK residents aged 18 or over, and entry is optional: choose Enter this competition on the leaderboard first. Then each review you write earns points (with a bonus for a print photo) and is labelled as written during a competition. The leaderboard shows the standings, the rules and the prize, with usernames only for public profiles.
Review leaderboard →Can I submit a deal I've found?
Yes. Sign in and choose Submit a deal from the Deals menu, then paste the product links. Our team reviews submissions, usually within one or two working days, to keep the catalogue accurate and free of spam and duplicates.
Submit a deal →How do I report a review, photo, comment, list or profile?
Use Report next to it; you don't need an account. Tell us why and which law or rule it breaks. A person on our team reviews every report, we email you a receipt and our decision, and if we remove something we tell its author why and how to object.
A product link is wrong or no longer works. What should I do?
Signed in, open the … menu on the product page and choose Report a broken link; the listing is hidden while our team checks it. You can also email us from Report a Problem in the footer.
Inventory (beta)
Tracking the spools you own, your prints and your costs.
What is Inventory?
Your home base for filament you own. It tracks spools and their remaining weight, warns you when stock is low, and links your prints so you can see usage and estimated costs in one place. It needs a free account.
Inventory →How do I add filament to Inventory?
Choose Add Filament, then pick a filament from the SpoolDeal catalogue or enter the details yourself; you can also import many spools at once with the CSV template, or add a spool from its product page.
How does logging a print update my inventory?
Choose Start Print, pick the spools you used and the grams consumed. The print goes into your history and the weight comes off those spools, so your stock stays accurate.
Where do low stock warnings come from?
From the per-spool threshold in the Settings tab (250g unless you change it): a spool at or below it shows up in your low stock counts.
Can I print labels for my spools?
Yes. Design a label in the label designer (QR codes and barcodes, printed to PDF or a Niimbot label printer), then queue labels from Inventory and print them in one go. Scanning a spool's QR code opens it in your Inventory; anyone else sees which filament it is and where to buy it.
Label designer →Does Inventory work for a print business?
Yes. Set your user type to Business in Inventory → Settings for product stock, insights and invoices, and add your business details for quotes and invoices in Account → Business.
Tools and data
Calculators, charts and the price index.
What tools does SpoolDeal have?
A print cost calculator for quoting jobs, the colour matcher, a label designer for spool labels and QR codes, an empty spool weight catalogue, a filament drying chart, and buyer's guides for filament and printers. They're all free and in the Tools menu.
Print cost calculator →How do I work out how much filament is left on a spool?
Weigh the spool and subtract the empty spool's weight, which the spool weight catalogue lists by brand. The difference is the filament left.
Spool weight catalogue →How long should I dry filament for?
The drying chart lists the temperature and time for each material, and filament pages link a dryer that reaches the temperature that material needs.
Drying chart →Is filament getting cheaper?
The UK filament price index tracks the typical price per kilogram of each material month by month, from our own price history, with the cheapest brands and how prices moved in sales like Prime Day and Black Friday. You can download the figures as CSV and reuse them with credit.
Filament price index →Get deals your way
